Thermal Imaging

Thermal ImagingThermal imaging cameras are designed to detect radiation in the infrared spectrum which is invisible to the naked eye. The higher the temperature of an object the more infrared radiation it emits, therefore allowing variations in temperature to be seen. It is this ability of determining temperatures in a non contact and non destructive method, which makes thermal imaging such a valuable diagnostic tool for reducing energy use. From identifying heat loss in buildings to identifying poorly aligned motor couplings, thermal imaging can highlight various problems.

We provide a thermal imaging service for both building fabric and plant equipment.

A thermal imaging survey of the building fabric and heating equipment can be used to identify defects such as air leakage from the building, missing or discontinuous insulation in walls and the integrity of pipe insulation on heating systems.

For plant equipment, thermal imaging surveys can be used for preventative maintenance, identifying defects such as misaligned motor couplings, over heating motors and problems with bearings.
